Back to Music - David Florio's Cover of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine"

I recorded one album with my blues band back in 2009. It is available on all of the music services, which means I get about $15 a year from CD Baby due to downloads and streaming.  This is the way the modern music industry works. Artists don't get paid much, unless they are Taylor Swift or Harry Styles. For me, it's  OK.  I never planned on making money from my music hobby. I feel bad for the terrific musicians in the world who are being exploited by the current musical ecosystem.

On the other hand...

Spotify hears all & knows all about my weird musical tastes and will serve up tracks from people I would not have found on my own. Thanks to this awful, exploitive component of the rigged system, I now know about David Florio.

Florio is an Italian musician who started out playing flute when he was 11 years old. He grew into a remarkable multi-instrumentalist and singer. This guy plays guitar, piano, bass and drums. With this collection of skills, he has created a body of work that is insanely cool.  I did not know that Italian musicians could groove so hard!

Here's a taste of this guy's music: Florio recorded his version of Marvin Gaye's I Heard It Through the GrapevineHe slowed the tempo down a bit and the result is a much grittier, funkier version of the original song. Florio added his rich, soulful voice and wicked flute licks to the mix.  The backup vocalists nail it, too. I'm going to dig into Florio's music - this guy is a killer!

I'm trying to learn more about this Italian musician, but his on-line presence is skimpy. If anyone reading this has info on this guy, let me know in the comments.
